At Melbourne, Australia, the Australian Open shocked the sports world when Serena Williams was beaten by Angelique Kerber. On the men's side, Andy Murray left his fifth men's final defeated.

What viewers thought cannot be done apparently can be possible when Angelique Kerber won the women's final in just three sets. The win ended Serena Williams' streak again after losing to Roberta Vinci at the semifinals in the United States Open.

The defeat appeared to be an emotional strike against Williams as everybody expects her to win. "... Every single match, every single day of my life", said Serena Williams in the report by National Post. She further explains that people thinks she's a robot with the ability to win every single match put in front of her but insists that she's not.

Williams had scored 6-0 in the Australian finals for the championship but lost to Kerber.

Andy Murray is somewhat a similar story. He too ended up with losses but he has his mind on other things which most likely preoccupied his game and lost focus. Online reports indicated that his wife Kim is pregnant and is apparently due quite soon. Murray is away from his wife - Kim is in Britain at the moment. He explained that it's been a rough few weeks for him and that he's on his way home. However, that didn't prevent him from supporting his brother Jamie Murray on Sunday morning. It was reported that they are the first brothers to reach the finals in the men's singles and doubles at the Grand Slam event.

Jamie Murray even commented that Andy should be resting and not taking pictures in the middle of the night when he took the trophy. That may have well been the positive experience Andy Murray had but he needed to leave soon. "Thank you so much for all your support. I'll be on the next flight home", said Murray in an emotional response.
