A recent report said that AT&T is going to market the latest Microsoft Lumia 650 smartphone. The Windows 10 powered mobile will be offered by Cricket Wireless, a subsidiary of the communications giant.

Its predecessor, the Lumia 640 was previously sold by Cricket Wireless in the United States before they were offered by other carriers. Going with the same trend, the company has planned to market it soon.

Regarding its release date, GSM Arena revealed that it will be sometime in April, 2016. But there is no information offered by the company whether other carriers will also sell this Windows 10-operated mobile.

But there's another report that said the Lumia 650 may probably be the last of its kind. There are a number of analysts who have been forecasting that Microsoft would wind down the Lumia series production for some time now.

Currently, Lumia smartphones are not on the top of their market niche. The sales of such mobiles by the software giant are getting less and less every year. There are a number of reasons for this disappointing market performance.

One of which is that Microsoft is faced with the likes of Samsung, Apple, and other well-known mobile manufacturers which have established themselves in the market long before the software giant introduced its own mobile devices.

Microsoft's marketing strategy is limited to the release of mid-tier smartphones and that is not very effective in cutting into the market of competitors which are offering devices with more impressive tech specs at very competitive prices.

In this regard, some observers believe that the Lumia 650 will probably be the last mobile device in its series. Although it is a high quality smartphone with pretty impressive specs, it is rather unlikely that Microsoft will concentrate on it. This is what will likely happen considering that this software giant has other bigger plans on its plate.
