It's still early in the game and if you have not done so and you want to jump-start your career this year, here are some career boosting resolutions that you may want to consider. Think about "it's never too late" to do this and you will still get ahead.
1. Always keep yourself updated
Be always up to speed in whatever industry you are involved in. You can do this by always reading the latest news and happenings in your field. Make the effort to read at least one news item relevant to your work. This will be your fund of information that you can use whenever you are in professional conversions. With the latest information in your head, you will be making better and wiser decisions in your work.
2. Enhance your personal brand
Social media is a great career booster. If you are a member of a social media network, this is the time to use your membership more effectively. Use it as a platform to enhance your personal brand.
Don't you know that around 35 percent of employers are less likely to interview job applicants if they can't find them online? So, sign up with Twitter, LinkedIn and relevant social media sites to promote yourself to a wider audience.
2. Read about the latest developments and things related to your career
The internet is a vast repository of knowledge, present, past and future. It is very easy to get the latest information about your industry by just being online. And don't stop with the internet. If you really want to get ahead of your peers, you also need to read a book related to your career at least once in four months.
3. Be appreciative of the people in your workplace
Showing gratitude is one of the attributes that will endear you to those you work with every day. You need to be in good stead with all your co-workers because it is not a career booster to be in conflict with someone at your workplace.
