After the trailer of "Independence Day 2: Resurgence" was showed last year and in the recent Super Bowl commercial, the upcoming Roland Emmerich film proved that the alien invasion attacks could be nearby anytime soon and the forces of brave men and women are needed to fight for the Earth's cause.
The trailer of the 2016 movie introduced some highlights on what to expect after the previous 1996 movie "Independence Day." According to Enstarz, Jeff Goldblum, the man behind the character Earth Space Defense Director David Levinson is caught acting up in a settlement between the safety of America and the looming threat of the aliens.
Apart from Goldblum, the former actors who are set to reprise their roles in the sequel are Bill Pullman, Judd Hirsch, Vivica A. Fox and Brent Spiner. Meanwhile, tidbits of the trailer also showed newbie characters such as Liam Hemsworth's Jake Morrison and Jessie Usher's Dylan Dubrow-Hiller.
Hemsworth will be playing a Pilot for ESD. He was depicted in the film as the beginner pilot who made a chunk of careless mistakes which led him to a mission to the moon for punishment.
Imploring more on Hemsworth's character in "Independence Day 2: Resurgence," Enstarz noted his interview from Slashfim. According to Hemsworth, "[Jake's] parents were killed in the first attack. So he grew up in an orphanage, joined the military, became a fighter pilot and ended up in the best of the best fighter pilots and makes a bad decision and ends up being demoted to the moon where he drives what is essentially the same as a forklift."
Meanwhile, Dylan Dubrow-Hiller on the other hand is the stepson of Will Smith's character Steve Hiller from the 1996 movie. He is speculated to do the same glory continuing Smith's journey in the extraterrestrial war.
In line with this, Smith on the other hand will not be seen in the movie, for some instance it was revealed that his character will eventually be killed off in "Resurgence."
"Resurgence" revealed how destruction is in the upcoming movie. The 2016 film showed how buildings and even span bridges are being trampled up and down. i09 even detailed how London will also be one of the countries greatly destroyed by the extraterrestrial war.
Watch "Independence Day 2: Resurgence" on Jun. 24, 2016 in cinemas.
