Huawei Targets Apple With New Tablet Launch

Huawei announced at the Mobile World Congress its first unveiling of its 2 in 1 Windows 10 device that aims to challenge Apple, Lenovo and Samsung called MateBook.

The device comes in a slick 12-inch tablet with a detachable keyboard case similar to Apple's iPad Pro, where it runs Windows 10's latest operating system by Microsoft offering a well battery capacity and display. Its features consists of a fingerprint sensor, a 12 inch display, 5 megapixel front camera and 512 gigabytes of storage.

The tablet offers a 2 color option from dark silver to champagne white, where as the company released an accessories kit consist of an adopter to allow users to connect USB and a HDMI lead.

The company has not mentioned the pricing nor the device's availability, however it hasn't reached its consumers in the U.S yet, nor there was not any mention to whether the keyboard and accessory will be purchased separately.

The tech firm based in Shenzhen found itself in the smartphone market late but with great success, it is now positioned as the third-biggest player after Samsung and Apple, and in 2015 managed to ship over 108 million smartphones, reaching an excessive increase to what was expected with 44% back in 2014.

Today Huawei is trying to find its way in the tablet field, considering at the past year in the fourth quarter of 2015, tablet shipments fell 13.7%, while it reached an all-time high shipment for detachable tablets of 8.1 million devices.

Executive director of strategy analytics, Neil Mawston stated, "Huawei has grown relatively well in the consumer segment, and now they are moving upstream into the prosumer and corporate market, they are upscaling and pricing the customers they attract,"

As many other competitors are in the market game, Huawei is pacing a slow determined smartphone market hoping that the MateBook would enlarge its contribution.
