Experts predict that 2013 will have a normal economic run but it will not be very robust, reported Wall street Journal.
So, what are the trends that could surface in the job market and workplace?
As per Forbes, here are five trends that will probably take over job areas and leadership techniques in 2013:
1. Increased dependency on Social Media-
With the increasing rate of dependency on automation and technology, hiring will also see a huge reliance on Social media. Recently, not only has Facebook and Twitter helped run background checks on thousands of employees, but sites like Salesforce Chatter and Yammer have been helping companies keep a track on their social interactions without having to look into Facebook or Twitter. Yammer and Salesforce Chatter help the management to keep a tab on customer and employee sentiments.
2. Technology Collaboration will be heightened-
Technology will be customized according to usage and companies will be collaborating on a technical front. Social media has already been helping in collaborations, but 2013 will see purpose focused technology building. Analytical tools will be designed and developed to keep a tab on company reputations, demand forecasts and market conditions.
3. Collaboration of generations at workplace expected in new companies-
Many new companies are emerging as the concept of entrepreneurship has spread like a viral flu. In these new companies, expect a collaborated workplace scenario, where Gen Y and Gen X are put together to work. The amalgamation of wisdom and bright new ideas is being forecast for the coming year. This might prove to be a challenge for leaders, managers and HR as the differences in perception and thinking can cause disturbances. However, the basic concept is to make passionate people from two generations work together for a better future.
4. Job growth rate expected to be low due to government regulations-
The emerging tax rules changes and other regulations imposed by the government would keep job growth rates limited in the coming year. Hirers have to be extremely cautious about employing the right candidate for a particular job.
5. Telecommunication and Internet based global outreach between franchisees shall expand-
Global communication technolgies will see investments. Teleconferencing tools like Skype and Telepresence will be used widely, as they help in cutting down costs and travelling time.
