"Gods of Egypt" reviews are in and it sounds promising. According to critics, if you're into smoky CGI monsters that looks like a "fanged donut" or a sandal wearing Gerard Butler, then this is your movie.
The movie is described as demented entertainment. For one, the movie had viewers' concerns regarding the authenticity of its characters even though it's fictional and trying to be historically correct. The production team did apologize that they were unable to provide a much more diverse cast, but still promised that the movie will be epic.
If you're not bothered with the inaccuracy of the film and the honesty of the story then you'd be rewarded with the modesty and bluntness of "Gods of Egypt."
"Gods of Egypt" reviews do state over-all that the critics did enjoy the movie despite the generic thread of the story even though the graphics and special effects were not as convincing. The crowd shots and background setting were too fabricated which made them unnatural, making critics think that the movie should lean on the suggestion that the movie could have been an animated film instead.
"As is often the case in many midlevel and even pricier movies of this type, the more that filmmakers try to reproduce or fabricate entire worlds inside a computer, the less persuasive the results are," a New York Times review noted. "As is also often true, the aerial views and crowd shots are particularly unnatural and unattractive, and have none of the painterly beauty of Hollywood’s classical-era backdrops."
