Microsoft Corp. is set to unveil a security service for its Windows 10 OS that is targeted for large businesses. It will help big companies detect unusual behaviors on their networks and alert them when there are security threats and hackers.

This new service can compare with the security features of its rivals Symantec Corp. and FireEye.

The new security service is called Windows Defender Advanced Threat Protection. It is already being tested in the internal networks of Microsoft and some selected customers. Some parts of the software code will be included in the latest versions of Windows 10.

The product's release date as well as its pricing has not been finalized yet, according to Yusuf Mehdi, Microsoft VP for Windows and devices. This security system was not offered to the public for beta testing yet.

But for big commercial enterprises this product offers a 'post-breach' system of detecting attacks through machine-learning capabilities. According to Terry Myerson, executive VP for Windows and Devices Group at Microsoft, if the system has been compromised, detection will be quick with this security feature.

The service can even check the breach status of a PC in the previous six months.

According to a company announcement, "Simplified investigation tools replace the need to explore raw logs by exposing process, file, URL and network connection events for a specific machine or across the enterprise."

The software giant has taken this initiative to enhance Windows security with the government and private businesses which are searching for better ways to secure sensitive data considering the many high-profile hacks that were perpetuated in recent years.

In an interview, Mehdi said that the U.S. Department of Defense will upgrade their Windows computers to the current software for its top quality security features.

This new Windows security system depends on in-house security experts as well as algorithms and analysis built from huge volumes of the software company's security data.
