Intel Reports A Collaborative Effort To Work On A New Augmented Reality Headset

Looking at every technology industry joining the digital reality arena, it doesn't come as a surprise for Intel to jump in as well into the world of augmented reality.
According to a report on Wall Street Journal, the company is making use of RealSense 3D camera technology as an effort to build its AR headset.
If RealSense was to be implemented properly to Intel's headset, it could sell to potential consumers as opposed to other giant tech firms such as Apple, Google, Microsoft and Facebook.
Augmented reality isn't exactly the same as virtual reality, rather for a viewer taking up an entire field of a visualized computer-generated world, AR allows a viewer to look at the real world, but with visual layers onto it.
Intel taking a push into augmented reality instead of virtual reality could be a good thing to stand against the torrent of VR hardware that's been flooding the retail market for the past year.
In addition to Intel's intake suggested its plans to side with a range of different manufacturing companies instead of prioritizing the headset on the premise of its design.
Vice president and general manager of Intel's perceptual computing group Achin Bhowmik said, "We have to build the entire experience ourselves before we can convince the ecosystem," Explaining that Intel has already been pitching to its clients for years considering its long history of designing prototypes for its products.
Augmented reality has endless possibilities to create new lanes for the company, it would not only put AR and VR hardware in demand of its own microprocessing chips, but it would also be in need for special development in image-processing chips and 3D camera hardware as well.
While Intel is in a working process on building its AR system, it could almost be certain that it might not be selling the technology to other industry, but instead would hand over to them to give a different take on it.
