Oprah Winfrey is everywhere in the news right now. Although not involving any baby rumors or gossip, the Queen of All Media is now taking aims in helping fight poverty for the girls living in Niger.
The 62-year-old media mogul is in no surprise involved in this kind of cause. Oprah together with "Ricki and the Flash" actress Meryl Streep and the Elton John seek the attention of world leaders to put this devastating reality out in the open.
This awareness and conviction of Oprah together with other celebrities came about due to the devastating increase of girls being victimized of the HIV disease in the said country. People noted that "62 million girls are denied education and nearly 155 countries have discriminating laws against women."
"Nowhere on earth do women have as many opportunities as men," a letter from SBS detailed. "While the debate around this truth rages everywhere, girls and women living in extreme poverty - those often hit hardest by the injustice of gender inequality - have been left out of the conversation. This must change. The fight for gender equity is global."
Apart from poverty and the HIV disease, the list of A-list celebrities also made an open letter to address the other issues they are concerned of in Niger such as education, justice and malnutrition.
Apart from Oprah and the other celebrities mentioned, Tina Fey, Shonda Rhimes, Mary J. Blige, Charlize Theron, Amy Poehler and many more are taking part on the said campaign.
