This is an obligatory SPOILER ALERT if you haven't seen "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" yet.

"Star Wars" fans have always been critical of the nitty gritty details in the franchise's movie. And there was one thing that irked the fans in the movie "Star Wars: The Force Awakens." Slashfilm reported that there was a certain scene in the 7th Episode that fans nitpicked. The scene in question was General Leia Organa hugging it out with Rey. Slashfilm was able to discuss movie details with "Force Awakens" director J.J. Abrams to clarify the questionable embrace.

After the Resistance fighters came back from the destruction of Starkiller Base, Rey (played by Daisy Ridley) stood in front of General Leia Organa (played by Carrie Fisher). Clearly, backtracking the scenes before that moment, Rey has never met Leia. Which begs the question why Leia hugged Rey and not Chewbacca - who was clearly Han Solo's bestfriend in the whole world and could be possibly called his life partner?

Director J.J Abrams was kind enough to clarify the awkward embrace, saying the scene " was probably one of the mistakes" he made. Even though the two have never met, the Force could have been strong with them and each may have sensed their losses. He admitted that there was a mistake in the shot.

"Had Chewbacca not been where he was, you probably wouldn't have thought of it. But because he was right there, passed by Leia, it felt almost like a slight, which was definitely not the intention," Abrams further explained.

Will Rian Johnson have a different take on "Star Wars: Episode 8?" Fans will have to wait for the movie to hit theaters on Dec. 15, 2017.
