‘No Man’s Sky’ Game Won’t Have DLC But Will Be ‘Different’ And ‘Innovative,’ Says Sean Murray

The "No Man's Sky" game will not have DLCs after its release. However, Hello Games boss Sean Murray did hint at the possibility of an alternative.
In an interview with PC Gamer, the "No Man's Sky" game lead developer talked about support after the game's release date. He has revealed that there are no plans for a DLC but there may be new features added in their space exploration game eventually.
"There's things, post-release, that would be really exciting for the game that we could see how people were playing and iterate on that," Murray told the publication. "This is definitely a game for updates."
"And actually, content-wise, DLC is less applicable. Actually, the model that we're going for is a model that is way more common on PC [than on console]: a constantly iterated and growing feature set, and that's something we would love the opportunity to support."
Sean Murray added that he can't promise DLC since the "No Man's Sky" game may not be as successful as they had hoped. "Maybe everyone will hate it, and maybe Hello Games will go out of business," he said with a laugh. "But if people will allow us that opportunity it's something I would love to do."
Meanwhile, the Hello Games boss also talked about how the game is different from other video games in the market. He spoke with BBC's Newsbeat about what he and his team are trying to do with the "No Man's Sky" game.
"We're just trying to do something a bit different and innovative and it would be great to see more games do that," Murray said. "As a gamer who plays all the time I love a lot of Triple-A titles but I find gaming a little predictable a lot of the time."
"No Man's Sky" release date is slated for Jun. 21, 2016. It will be published for PC and PS4.
