Bieber Investigated For Battery, Is Criminal Activity A Growing Trend Among Celebrities?

In what should not be a surprise to anyone at this point, yet another celebrity figure has been allegedly involved in criminal activities. This time, the culprit is none other than Justin Bieber.
The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department is investigating the 19-year-old pop sensation in an alleged case of battery against a Calabasas neighbor Tuesday morning. The victim claims that he was both battered and threatened by Bieber, though is not speaking about the specifics of the case while the investigation is underway.
The neighbor has stated that the incident arose from a verbal dispute that occurred outside of their homes on Prado Del Grandioso. Another neighbor has claimed that Bieber had a Ferrari delivered to his home last night, and was speeding it up and down the street today. The victim apparently became upset at both the noise and the danger that the act posed, and told Bieber as much. It was then that he claimed Bieber both threatened and assaulted him.
Bieber's camp and other sources in the neighborhood have also stated that the victim had complained to Bieber about the loud noise from all of the parties thrown at his house while he was on tour, but also noted that Bieber did not assault the man.
This is not the first time that Justin Bieber has been accused of assault. He was also involved in an altercation last May when he allegedly punched and kicked a photographer after he was caught on camera with his then-girlfriend Selena Gomez. Prosecutors declined to pursue criminal charges in that case.
Sadly, it has become all-too-common to see celebrities engage in criminal activity in recent years. The laundry list of household names seems to go on indefinitely: Chris Brown, Amanda Bynes, Lindsey Lohan, Lil Wayne, R.Kelly, Paris Hilton, and so on. What is really interesting is that for the most part (not including Lil Wayne) these people were not regarded as being a criminal threat before their fame. It appears that our glorification of celebrities may be partly to blame for their increasingly erratic behavior, and with the public eye already so intensely focused on Hollywood, that possbility does not bode well for anyone.
