Is Google Building A Rival To Amazon Echo?

Rumors are now spreading that Google is developing a digital assistant which is similar to what Amazon is now selling with its own Echo product.
The Bluetooth speaker of the online retailer has proven to be a great success when it debuted. It has the capacity to perform various tasks through voice commands. But the Mountain View, CA-based company did not divulge enough details about its new creation or when it plans to unveil it.
In the development of this new item, Google showed its intention not to depend on Nest, a sister company. It may have been the reputation of Nest which is known for delaying the launch dates of its products, which caused the search giant to make this decision.
This approach shows that the online search company is intent on taking the quickest route in developing its own digital assistant and present Echo a rightful competitor.
"The Information" came out with a report of a "secret Google project to create a competitor to Amazon's echo." But the report didn't give any details regarding its features, its possible price, or its future launch date.
The report said that Nest wanted to have a part in the product's development but was rejected by the Google group leading the project. Tony Fadell, Nest CEO, has a proclivity to push back plans of launching Flintstone, a smart home hub, and this is one of the reasons for the rejection, says the report.
If this mystery Google digital assistant is presumably very similar to the Amazon Echo, it will also have the same general features.
Echo is actually a Bluetooth speaker which works in tandem with a digital assistant, Alexa. This is an integrated system equipped with complex voice recognition technology.
Users of Echo have the option to activate Alexa and ask her to play-back music, call up Uber, or access the smart lights in the house using voice commands.
