There isn't a science to the kind of jobs people regret most, since everyone is different. However, as subjective as the topic is, trends and patterns can still be identified. Monster has found these two more jobs to be among the most regretted ones.
1. Delivery drivers
Don't be fooled by the idealistic portrayal of this job in rom-com movies. Earning an average yearly pay of $31,600, 42% of delivery drivers say they have regretted their jobs.
Not only is there low pay and some really physically demanding work - the job has very little meaning. Opportunities to advance are rare if any and the work is monotonous and uninspiring, not to mention uninteresting.
There have been delivery drivers who have quit their jobs and gone back to school to learn something and make some meaning of their lives, so beware of getting into this career if you are looking for something rewarding.
2. Bank teller
Incidentally another career portrayed a lot in movies - this time action thrillers of heists, this career is also one that people who have gone into it seem to regret a lot. They earn an average yearly salary of $24,400, and an astounding 37% of bank tellers say they regret taking their jobs.
Bank tellers are a customer-facing role, which means dealing with people from all walks of life and all kinds of attitudes. If people dealing is not something you want to be doing many hours a day six days a week, and you are not service oriented, this will be a huge challenge for you.
The other major problem that causes a lot of stress is balancing the money at the end of the day. So now, after you have had a day dealing with people - about their money, no less - you need to be really god at accounts, really good with money - and very detail oriented.
Work can often be stressful, but work involving money can be frustrating, and difficult -and regretful. The mistakes can also have much bigger consequences than usual.
