Snapchat Ultimate Goal: Total Media Domination

The objective of Snapchat is not just to be a popular chat app, but eventually to dominate the world of media. This app has grown to be a significant media platform and an aggressive competitor to the established platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and others.
Snapchat is difficult to handle at times. It has been notoriously known as user-hostile, especially for those who are tech-challenged because of its basic design. The chat app has also experienced rapid changes and modifications. What users bought six months ago might not be very applicable and useful today.
But all these frequency of changes offer some clue to the real and bigger intent of Snapchat. Its goal is to dominate all the relevant form of media by utilizing messaging as its delivery system.
It is in this context that the recent surprise move of the company can be better appreciated. Snapchat has just bought Tech.Co, a media company and events organizations service provider for technology enthusiasts, entrepreneurs, and startups.
It is planning to change the format of Tech.Co. This acquisition is an integral part of the expansion plans of the social media company.
"We at Tech.Co are happy to join the Snapchat team in their pursuit of total media domination," stated Tech.Co in its website.
The social media company recently unveiled a variety of new features such as GIFs, video calling and stickers. TV networks have already begun to post TV series that will be produced for the app exclusively. The photo-sharing app will have an additional nine new series according to Comedy Central.
Snapchat's plans of reformatting Tech.Co are based on its goal of increasing app traffic, taking cue from the desire of consumers to see short bursts of information rather than long textual messages.
"Keeping everyone informed is great," says one reliable source. "But who wouldn't love to have all their tech news consolidated into 10-second clips? That's the dream," he added.
