As a kid, you may have been collecting items that now, it turns out, may be worth hundreds if not thousands of dollars. Consider yourself lucky if you have a Trevor Story card on hand. According to KDVR, baseball card trading has never been this hot.

So how hot is a Trevor Story card? A signed Trevor Story card can sell for $1,800 on eBay. That was exactly the same amount it was bought for. When the card was first sold, it only cost $50 back in the day. Mike Fruitman, owner of Mike's Stadium Sports Cards in Aurora said that "We've seen a lot of interest in players before but I've never seen anything heat up this quickly."

Collectors have been known to keep vintage items until they become highly valuable. While some find it difficult to part with their sweet belongings, some would do so in the hopes of earning big bucks. There are thousands of sellers on eBay that are avid collectors or are actually selling for a living. For Mike, he has an estimated 4.1 million cards in his shop. But until another shipment comes at the end of next week, none of them features the Rockies' stellar rookie Trevor Story. He's sold out.

"For a guy to come up and be called the starter in spring training and to hit like this I've never seen anything like it," Fruitman said. Story's popularity is not just a local trend. Mike says that Trevor's cards are being pre-ordered at the same rate as some of the best players in Major League Baseball.

Do you have some baseball cards in your closet? Dust them off and see if you can make an extra thousand dollars.
