A 24-year-old woman was mauled by a tiger in a UK Zoo on Friday.

The Dalton-in-Furness park employed Sarah McClay who was wandering around in the tiger's enclosure. The woman was then suddenly attacked by the tiger and suffered injuries to her head and neck. She was sent to the Royal Preston Hospital but did not make it through the "tragedy."

The "very experienced" worker, "proficient and passionate," had "no reason" to be in the tiger enclosure, said park owner, David Gills.

"We have very strict protocols and procedures for working with big cats," he continued. "For inexplicable reasons she opened a door and walked into the enclosure. We will never know why she entered without telling anyone. There was no reason for her to go in there."

The park, displaying Siberian and Sumatran tigers, was closed early on Friday and all the visitors were evacuated from the park.

Police reports that the system to lock the doors between the tiger enclosures should have been locked. This could have avoided the tragic incident.

This is not the first tiger killing of zookeepers. Last year, a 43-year-old female staff was killed by a tiger in Cologne zoo in Germany on August 25. Watch the video on it below:
