Though soccer games stir violence across Europe all the time, one would have expected that this game between amputees to have ended in peace.
All the athletes in the Netherlands-Belgium game, hosted in Germany, had overcame their leg amputation at one point, and was displaying their feat to play soccer amidst their challenges.
Perhaps the frustrations over the difficulty of the feat got out of hand, No. 10 on Netherlands's team held his crutch in his hands and beat his opponent's head with it. The orange-clad player ran away (all the players were great with their crutches), but was then caught up by some able-bodied fans, inciting the brawl.
Referees moved in and tried to break up the fight, but they were not able to stop the brawl amidst shoving and fly-kicks.
The glorious perseverance of these individuals were quickly covered by this tragic loss of temperance. However, the next game between these two teams would likely draw a lot of visitors.
