The Jungle Book has managed to fight title as it remained the number one in its second weekend with an estimate of $60M-$62M in total. Nobody predicted that the adaptation of Kipling's book was going to hit as big as it did.
Is the possibility of a sequel in the works given the success of The Jungle Book?
The Hollywood Reporter states that Disney is already on the move doing necessary preparations for a sequel to the live-action film. The first movie was directed and written by Jon Favreau and Justin Marks. Voice cast of the film includes Idris Elba, Ben Kingsley, Bill Murray, Scarlett Johansson, and Lupita Nyong'o. Will Neel Sethi still be part of the sequel?
The actor and newcomer Neel Sethi, who plays the role of the "man cub" Mowgli, has amazed the audience of the Jungle Book and has already made a name for himself in Disney's The Jungle Book. Because of his good performance, questions about him returning for the sequel are arising.
"I want to do Jungle Book 2," Sethi said in his interview with Independent. "I don't know what Disney is thinking ... I want to keep playing Mowgli, but I also want to be a new superhero [his voice has become even more excited]. One [no one] knows about yet. I don't know out of DC and Marvel, I want to be a mix!"
Sethi said that the he did not film in a real jungle, but in a studio surrounded by blue screen. "It was all blue screen so there was no need for a jungle. Sometimes there was set there; anything I was touching or reacting with was actually there. They had dirt, and soil, and grass, and trees," Sethi said.
If that is the case, then fan and critic reviews might be right when they graded Sethi's performance as incredible. Given that review, it seems that the young actor has the potential and might have a bright career doing movies.
