Nintendo has recently announced that it is adding to the collection Amiibos two new figurines for the Wii video game Splatoon and they are slated to be released in July.
Nintendo executives are happy since it a still making a killing from its Amiibo sales. These are small but cute collectible figures that are used to connect with Nintendo 3 DS and Wii U games to unlock new characters or contents.
Since their launch in late 2014, a total of around 53.6 million Amiibo figures were shipped, with about 24.7 million shipped just last year alone, according to Nintendo officials.
Callie and Marie, the game's Squid Sisters characters, will have their own Amiibo which will be available at retail outlets on July 8, according to the company. The two figures will be made available in a 2-pack and priced at $25. They can also be bought individually for $13 per piece.
Nintendo has managed to stir interest with its game mascot-centric figurines culled out among the characters throughout its video games, including third-party characters such as Cloud and Sega's Bayonetta.
Splatoon Amiibo figures were sold since the game's initial launch in May. Now, it has revealed its plan for new figurines for Callie and Marie. These two latest Amiibos are designed to do something unique and special once they are scanned into the game - one of which is to play music.
They will also do some dance performances, which is just fitting for the sisters' role in the game as pop singers.
But that's not all. On July 8, Nintendo will also release recolored version of the Inkling Boy, Inkling Girl, and Inkling Squid Amiibo. The boy and the girl will come in a package, while all the three will be available as a set.
Although these figures are not as big an attraction as Mario, Pikachu, and Link, Splatoon figurines nevertheless continue to be among the Wii U's best sellers that is why Nintendo sustains its support with updates and events.
