Gasoline prices at the pumps in Arizona are basically the same as last week's which is at $2.15 per gallon. Triple-A officials said on Thursday that the average statewide price for unleaded regular gasoline has increased only a penny from last week.
The national average this week is $2.17 a gallon, an increase of more than 6 cents from last week.
Analysts from Triple-A believe that if there are no problems regarding supply and refinery productions, car owners are expected to shell out some of the lowest fuel prices for the coming summer months in more than 10 years.
Arizona's lowest average gasoline price at $1.94 per gallon is now being enjoyed by drivers in Tucson, but the highest is at Flagstaff where a gallon could be had at $2.32.
The lowest average price among the continental U.S. states is at Texas, at $1.93 per gallon with the highest at California, at $2.77.
Prices of gasoline have steadily gone up but only at a slow pace at around 14 cents per gallon in the past month. Industry sources believe that gasoline prices will go on climbing in the coming weeks, but are not expected to reach their level last year.
In Alabama, the average price of regular gasoline was $1.998 per gallon, according to Triple A Fuel Gage Report. Its price was $2.329 during the same period in 2015.
The average gasoline prices last year topped out at $2.53 in June.
"I don't think it will go that high this year," said Clay Ingram, spokesman for AAA-Alabama. "I don't think it will go over $2.50. In fact, I think it will be a good bit less than that," he added.
A week ago, the average price of one gallon of regular grade gasoline was $1.914, and $1.857 one month ago. The national average on Thursday was $2.173, higher than the $2.112 of last week, and $2.039 one month ago.
