LeBron James has been confirmed to star in the highly anticipated "Space Jam 2" movie. There are speculations that more NBA players may join the sequel.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Justin Lin, who worked on "The Fast and Furious 6" as well as "Star Trek Beyond," will be co-writing Warner Bros.' "Space Jam 2" movie along with Andrew Dodge and Alfredo Botello. It is believed that Lin will be directing and producing the film through his company, Perfect Storm Entertainment.
Sources claim that he will be involved in the creative development of the project, too. Moreover, Cleveland Cavaliers forward LeBron James will star in the "Space Jam 2" movie.
For years, speculations on a follow-up to the 1996 hit "Space Jam" have circulated on the web. This was sparked further in July last year when James and his company, SpringHill Entertainment, signed a partnership with Warner Bros.
"Space Jam" starred Michael Jordan as he teamed up with Looney Tunes characters to play basketball against aliens intent on dominating the Earth. The film garnered $240.4 million globally.
LeBron James recently appeared in comedy film "Trainwreck" with Amy Schumer and Bill Hader. He played the role of Aaron Conners' (Bill Hader) friend.
Meanwhile, Forbes reported that more NBA players could join LeBron James in the "Space Jam 2" movie. The publication listed down the top five candidates for roles in the sequel.
Apparently, Golden State Warrior player Stephen Curry along with Dwayne Wade, Chris Paul, Russell Westbrook and Kevin Durant are not believed to be a part of the movie's cast. Forbes speculated that rising stars Isaiah Thomas, Zach LaVine and Kyrie Irving would be perfect for a role in the film.
Furthermore, Jeremy Lin, who has remained a cultural icon today, can use his acting prowess for the "Space Jam" sequel. New York Knicks' Carmelo Anthony, one of LeBron James' close friends, may also take a supporting role in the movie.
