The "No Man's Sky" release date has finally been revealed. The highly-anticipated space exploration game will be available by next month.

Design&Trend reported that Hello Games boss Sean Murray has recently revealed that the project was almost canceled after it was announced last 2013. The game's lead programmer shared about the "traumatic times" that he and his team went through.

Apparently, the original four-person team was already having hesitations about announcing "No Man's Sky" at Geoff Keighley's 2013 VGX awards. They were ultimately convinced by Keighley to unveil a trailer for the space exploration game.

To Hello Games' surprise, it was received with praise and excitement. Afterwards, though, a natural disaster struck the team.

"It was a couple of weeks later, and it was Christmas Eve and we were all off from work," Murray told IGN. "The whole office flooded."

"I think if we hadn't announced the game... I think we might have just canned 'No Man's Sky' because we would have been feeling really unsure of it."

Fortunately, the "No Man's Sky" developers faced the challenge and continued working on the project. The game even got the spotlight at Sony's E3 2014 press conference.

The "No Man's Sky" release date has been confirmed for Jun. 21. The game will be published for PS4 and PC.

Meanwhile, Sean Murray also revealed to IGN about how he had to turn down an appointment with Kanye West last year at E3 2015. This was because he was already scheduled for a meeting with Steven Spielberg and Elon Musk.

The Hello Games boss also had the opportunity to tour SpaceX. "It was so cool," he admitted.

"It's an amazing place. "We talked about loads of stuff. We just talked about normal things. I mean, obviously, he's a normal person. We talked about laptops and stuff like that. He's an incredibly nice guy and obviously super, super smart."
