Top 3 Challenges Millennials Face In The Workplace

Millennials face a lot of issues in the workplace these days. Here are the top three challenges that these young employees usually face in the workplace.
In Chief Executive Image Strategist Isabella Clivilez-Wu's guest post with Forbes, she revealed that most young professionals have a problem with the following areas in the workplace: email etiquette, networking and the dress code. Wu shared tips on how Millennials can overcome these issues.
Email is the most common tool for workplace communication. Oftentimes, young employees don't put a lot of thought into hitting the send button and replying to all instead of having a private conversation.
There are some Millennials who flag every email as urgent. Although we want replies to our inquiries as soon as possible, marking all emails as urgent defeats the purpose of the feature.
Another email problem with young employees is being discourteous in the message. This could just be an oversight on their part but be careful, sensitive and polite to others not only in email but when talking to your colleagues as well.
In addition, using all caps when writing an email is definitely not the right way to do it. Make sure that your message is conveyed correctly so that it would be interpreted and understood properly.
Second, Millennials don't always see the value of networking. Employers should help them widen their circle of influence. This can result to lasting business connections not only for the employees but for employers as well.
Third, Millennials sometimes misunderstand the dreaded dress code. Dress for the industry that you are in. Flashy colors and trends are good if you're in the fashion industry. However, it might not always work well for conservative offices.
Meanwhile, according to Adweek, new types of graduates are emerging nowadays from advertising programs. Gone are the days where there is a clear-cut career path for young professionals. Millennials are equipped and skilled to take on varied responsibilities in the workplace.
"Kids come out of college today with a fiery creative spirit and a desire to create all the time," N8tive Paul Vinod said. "They are hybrids. Defining them would be putting them in a straitjacket."
