Nintendo to Venture Into Making Movies?

Nintendo is seriously venturing in the movie industry with CEO Tatsumi Kimishima setting a goal for the company to come up with a film within the next 2 to 3 years.
Although the CEO did not provide any other detailed information about the company's plans, the announcement was enough for fans to be excited especially because the idea of Nintendo producing films has already been ignited with Pixels and Super Mario Bros.
It can be recalled that last February, Shigeru Miyamoto, video designer and game producer, said that he was not against the idea of the company taking its chances on the big screen, especially because Nintendo has been considered to be an "entertainment" company.
"Because games and movies seem like similar mediums, people's natural expectation is we want to take our games and turn them into movies," Miyamoto said. "I've always felt video games, being an interactive medium, and movies, being a passive medium, mean the two are quite different.
"As we look more broadly at what is Nintendo's role as an entertainment company, we're starting to think more and more about how movies can fit in with that," he added. "And we'll potentially be looking at things like movies in the future."
On the other hand, Nintendo also made a deal with Universal Parks which would allow it to bring its characters to theme parks all around the globe, as reported by GameSpot. Furthermore, the company has released its first smartphone game.
The company announced the Mario mash-up pack for the Wii U version of Minecraft. According to the Verge, "the game will get 40 character skins, so you can dress up as Mario or Peach, and you can change the look of surfaces so that they will seem as if they came from the Mariouniverse. You can even add in some classic Mario tunes."
These developments very much align with Nintendo's claim of being an "entertainment" company.
Nintendo Co., Ltd. is a "Japanese multinational consumer electronics and software company headquartered in Kyoto, Japan." The company is considered to be the "world's largest video game company by revenue."
