‘America’s Got Talent’ Gets Wowed By 13 Year Old Opera Singer

It's rare to hear the golden buzzer buzz during an episode of "America's Got Talent." If someone does press the buzzer, then that most likely means an unmatched talent just hit the stage.
That's exactly what happened. A 13 year old girl didn't look like she had the vocal chords to pull off "Nessun Dorma," but she did and she nailed it. CNN has it that it was judge Mel B. who pressed the buzzer. Judge Simon Cowell, known for his "American Idol" finesse as a judge, said he has never heard anything like that before.
Just one episode in for the season and already the golden buzzer was heard. In the first audition week of NBC's "America's Got Talent," 13 year old Laura Bretan took the center stage and mesmerized the audience and judges with her performance of "Nessun Dorma." The song is an aria from the final act of Giacomo Puccini's frequently performed opera Turandot and is one of the best-known tenor arias in all opera. Pavarotti was one of the few people who can nail that song. The toughest critic, Simon Cowell, even told her he was amazed by her. "And what made it even better is the fact that you are such a sweet person, so humble, not even aware of how amazing you are," he added.
Rather than get the usual numbers of Yeses, Mel B. took it upon herself to slam the golden buzzer to send Bretan onto the live shows. "You literally made all my hairs stand up on end," the former Spice Girl said. But she can never press that buzzer again. Each judge can only do that once for the whole season.
When Nick Cannon asked her how she feels about the whole thing, the teenager said: "This has been a dream come true. I've been waiting for this for so long."
Her career as a singer already started at a young age but to become an opera singer and hailed by critical judges, that's a whole 'nother level in "America's Got Talent."
