After several dramatic discussions between McGregor and UFC, and between Diaz and UFC, all parties have finally come to an agreement. Calling it the "UFC Rematch of the Century," the luck of the Irish tries once again to beat down Diaz.
According to beats from ESPN, after the final meeting with UFC President Dana White and CEO Fertitta in Los Angeles, they have finally set a date. The rematch between Conor McGregor and Nate Diaz will happen in UFC 202. There have been a few bumps in the road when it came to the financial packages but it was eventually settled.
Featherweight champ McGregor was supposed to face off Rafael dos Anjos earlier this year but Anjos had to withdraw after sustaining a foot injury. With McGregor nothing to look forward to, it opened an opportunity to grab the welterweight from Diaz. After being notified if the challenge, Nate Diaz accepted within 11 days.
Clearly, McGregor is excited. "What kind of fighter would I be if I said, 'Hey, I didn't get you at 170, let me try to get you at 155,'" McGregor said. "I'll make my adjustments. I ate up to the weight. This time, I won't do that. MMA Junkie has it that UFC 202 will take place on August 20. The odds are McGregor is a -130 favorite at UFC 202. Diaz, meanwhile, is the +100 underdog.
Conor has nothing to lose but his temper. He still holds the UFC Featherweight Championship belt. His ambition to go up to welterweight may be a stretch but his title won't be on the line. The rematch between Conor McGregor vs Nate Diaz is on and fans are already starting to bet on who will be taken down.
Do you think McGregor will beat Diaz this time?
