When there are ghosts, who are you going to call? Melissa McCarthy and her lady squad are on the job. But sometimes the job is not as fashionable as one would hope. Ghostbusters do not wear fancy leather suits. They wear jump suits that is fit for pest control. Because that is what they do, only with ghosts.
So when Melissa McCarthy dons a proton pack, it is all equipment and non of her weight. Melissa McCarthy's weight loss can't be really seen under all of that equipment. "In the world of ghost warfare, these ladies have it going on," says Kate McKinnon, who stars as the experimental Jillian Holtzmann.
In the movie, the tech is much more advanced compared to the previous Ghostbusters movie. Gone is the giant nuclear laser and in its place is a compressed proton pack strapped to each of the ladies. But the equipment are still heavy. Even Leslie Jones admitted she lost weight carrying the pack around. "I came here a size 16; I am now a size 12."
"There's no movie magic," Melissa McCarthy explains. "Do they look heavy and sharp? That's because they are." The equipment most likely helped them get physically fit, as told in Entertainment Weekly.
But Melissa McCarthy's weight loss have been a focus for quite sometime as she had been gaining weight ever since her appearance on Gilmore Girls. But in recent films, and also influence from her own children, she started to eat right and eventually lost some of the pounds.
She also dedicated a clothing line for women who have more curves. She particularly loves the maxi dresses she designed and the assorted clothing articles in her clothing store. She has made a brand on her image and is now influencing others.
Ghostbusters is scheduled to hit theaters on July 15.
