’Star Trek 4’ Spoilers, Cast: Anton Yelchin’s Chekov Recast By JJ Abrams?

Everyone knew him as Checkov in the new "Star Trek" movies. His wit and humor tickled fans but in an instant, it has all disappeared after one fatal car collision. Will Star Trek 4 happen with or without Chekov?
Anton Yelchin's Chekov in the "Star Trek" film franchise showed a "cherubic charm who inspired huge affection." But Star Trek fans will not be seeing Yelchin in Star Trek 4. After that fatal traffic collision caused the accident when his own car rolled backward and pinned him against a pillar, he passed away. This caused some fans to ask whether or not director J.J Abrams will hire someone to fill in for Chekov.
Star Trek Beyond was his last movie appearance and, according to reports, Beyond has not even hit theaters yet and hard core Trekkies are already wondering about his character's fate. Because of this, Producer Abrams announced that Yelchin's part will not be recast after his sudden death.
"I would say there's no replacing him," Abrams said. He added that there will be no recasting as it is something that he could not imagine to do. "I think Anton deserves better," says the Star Wars director.
Abrams took his death hard. He wrote a handwritten message about Yelchin: "You were brilliant. You were kind. You were funny as hell and supremely talented. And you weren't here nearly long enough."
But show business is still a business and Abrams considered Anton's absence in the future Star Trek films. How can the franchise move without him? The producer still does not know how Star Trek 4 will address the absence of Chekov but it is still "too early to talk about it."
With Star Trek Beyond hitting theaters in less than two days, everybody is already looking at Star Trek 4.
