Following the massive success of zombie thriller "Train to Busan," there's now a huge buzz surrounding a potential sequel to the movie. Although nothing has been officially confirmed as of yet, there's already potential ideas for a "Train to Busan 2" plot and casts, wherein big names are being attached to the project.
"Trian to Busan" lead star Gong Yoo previously shared his thoughts and ideas for a sequel, as quoted by Allkpop. He revealed that he suggested to director Yeon Sang Ho that the story would continue with his character, Suk Woo, living somewhere as a zombie. However, his idea was shot down by the director, saying Suk Woo died by breaking his neck when he jumped off the train during his transition into a zombie.
So another idea came into mind: the sequel would be told in Ma Deong Seok's point of view.
Another rumor indicates the possibility of making a live-adaptation of the movie's prequel, titled "Seoul Station." The said animated film is the prequel to "Train to Busan" and tells the story of the early stages of the outbreak in Seoul. It has completely different characters and shows a different perspective to the outbreak.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, "Seoul Station" stars in the titular station's terminus building where a bloodied old man collapses. Passersby do not attempt to go near him, with one saying he's just a "stinky homeless guy." The dying man's younger brother goes around for help, but is shunned by social workers and police officers. The man later transforms into a ravenous zombie.
Many popular names are being attached to the reported "Train to Busan 2" project, including Hallyu stars Song Joong Ki and Lee Min Ho.
Song Joong Ki gained enormous popularity overseas when he starred in "Descendants of the Sun" as Captain Yoo Shi Jin. He received a lot of praise for his portrayal as a loyal and efficient soldier. He will definitely get a lot of traction playing physically-demanding roles for "Train to Busan 2."
On the other hand, Lee Min Ho's alleged involvement in "Train to Busan 2" is a no brainer. He is one of the most bankable South Korean actors and he has also done a lot of actions films that would make him a fit candidate for any role in the zombie thriller.
