Fans were ambivalent after HBO confirmed that Season 8 will be the end of the highly-anticipated series Game of Thrones. Based on the best-selling novel "A Song of Ice and Fire" written by multi-awarded writer George R.R. Martin, which involves issues of politics, love, family, and friendships, the series has blown away many fans with each season.

According to HBO's new programming president Casey Bloys, there's a plan of ending the fantasy hit with season 8. "Yes, they have a very specific plan about the number of seasons they want to do," Bloys said in an interview with Entertainment Weekly.

Meanwhile, when asked by E! about the looming end of their beloved series at the recent Emmy Awards, Sophie Turner who plays the role of Sansa Stark expressed her thoughts, "I'm probably sadder than you guys are."

"It's crazy when the show finishes I'll pretty much be the same age Kit (Harrington) was when he started...which is crazy," Turner confessed.

"I don't know what I'm going to do with my life," the 20-year-old actress added.

But as opposed to the somehow definite end of the series, Martin has yet to announce the schedule of the 6th installment of his beloved novel. Titled "The Winds of Winter," this book has been a work in progress since Martin finished his 5th book "A Dance with Dragons."

Fans were speculating that Martin is probably busy with other projects or his schedule couldn't keep up with his writing needs. With the seven planned books to complete the story, fans are also troubled that Martin might be pressured by the tremendous success of his previous books.

However, the writer has been receiving numerous awards both for the book and series. In fact, "The Winds of Winter" got another exposure through the iBook edition from Apple where a preview of the upcoming book has been posted as part of the 20th anniversary celebration of the first book, "A Game of Thrones."
