Killer bees kill horses. It's something that can possibly happen, but only to the unluckiest horses.
Chip and Trump were owned by Kristen Beauregard and her boyfriend. The duo together were stung around 250 times. The horses were unable to be saved, and they were stung so many more times that they 'shimmered' in the sunlight.
'He was so overwhelmed by bites that his body could not handle it. That's way too much for any 250-pound mammal to survive,' the equine vet who examined the horses killed by killer bees explained.
Killer bees are bees that have been 'Africanized' as its alternate name suggests. The attack nature of the killer bees were consistent with the account of the stinging incident.
The two owners reportedly noticed that the bees were attacking when their horses were jumping in response to the extreme pain.
The North texan couple then reportedly got off the horses and started running towards a pool of water. As they were inside the water, the couple reportedly recalled, "It got all dark, like it was nighttime there were so many bees. We were trying to stand up in the water but every time we stuck our heads out for air, they would cover us and start stinging us. We were trying to breathe and they were stinging us in the face and in the nose."
When the breathing became more difficult, the couple ran towards the house. Once they had gotten inside, the bees were banging onto the window trying to get to them. The couple then called 911 to the fire department and they came to pour foam down to remove the bees.
