LinkedIn Beware! Facebook’s New Job Feature Will Give It A Run For Its Money

LinkedIn's recruiting business is now under threat from Facebook. The social media company is now offering ways for business Pages to promote job listing, giving companies more reason to drive traffic to their respective Facebook Pages.

Techcrunch, who first spotted the Jobs tab on its Facebook Page, said that the social media giant has confirmed the new feature. A spokesperson from Facebook said that they are "running a test for Page admins to create job postings and receive applications from candidates."

The spokesperson adds that the new feature is based on the behavior they have seen on Facebook. They saw that lot of small businesses post their job openings on their respective Facebook Pages.

The new option allows Page administrators to formally share a job opening and put important details like job title, salary or if it's a full-time or part-time work. Facebook provided a special formatting, which allows administrators to differentiate job postings from other content to make it more attractive in the News Feed.

The job postings will also appear in a Jobs Tab of the Page, which will create a dedicated landing page that companies can applicants to. The job postings will also have an "Apply Now" button that will launch a standard job application flow.

The job application will already be inputted with information from a user's public profile. This will make it easier for people to apply to multiple jobs without the need to input redundant information.

The new job feature allows Facebook to compete with LinkedIn, as well as developers that build Jobs tab applications that businesses can embed in their Facebook Pages like Work4, Workable, and Jobscore. CNET reports that this is nothing new for Facebook as the social networking company is already used to entering sectors that are dominated by  one company.

Facebook challenged Craiglist in October 2015 when it launched its Marketplace, a new section of the mobile app that allows people to list their furniture, cars, and clothes for sale to any Facebook users in their area. And just last week, Facebook takes on Steam with the launch of its Gameroom, a PC gaming platform.
