It looks like an iceberg but it's actually congealed fat stuck together. While the massive fatberg looks cool in photos, it really isn't, reports say. Thames Water told reporters that it finds fatbergs all the time but this particular fatberg needed some extra attention because it weighs a good 15 tons.

In fact, reports say, it's the biggest one ever recorded in British history and most likely the nastiest. The blob is composed of baby wipes and lots of fat. It was seen lodged in London's sewer and representatives of the company say, it is a mound of "wrongly flushed festering food fat mixed with wet wipes."

The blob found right under one of London's road in the Kingston suburb, had to be reported according to Thames Water so that their customers will know the consequences of dumping food down the sewer. The message of Thames Water is that it will cause a lot of problems if something like the 15-ton mound will happen again.

Thames Water adds that fatbergs that remain untreated and flushed down the drain can cause backups and floods.

The mound of fat described by other news agencies as a white heap was found by Thames Water authorities clinging to the walls of London's sewerage system. The company says the blob is as big as a bus and even called it sickening.

Dumping food items is the norm anywhere else in the world but all the garbage thrown in the drain goes somewhere. Reports say a team from Thames Water spent almost a month dealing with complaints by residents that their toilets could no longer flush.

A representative at Thames Water said in an interview that the "sewer was almost completely clogged with over 15 tons of fat. If we hadn't discovered it in time, raw sewage could have started spurting out of manholes across the whole of Kingston."
