Katy Perry had donated $10,000 to Planned Parenthood, an organization that provides and educates about reproductive and sexual health. The award-winning singer said that her life would probably have been different without the organization.

Perry posted on her Instagram account a screenshot photo of Planned Parenthood's donation page with the $10,000 on the gift information box. She said that "it's time to turn words into action!"

She said that there are a lot of steps to be taken, but her first action is to support organizations that may lose funding from the government. And that will be to make a donation to Planned Parenthood.

"I am making a public donation to Planned Parenthood for the teenage me who made several visits to first a clinic in Santa Barbara and then Los Angeles, CA to educate myself on my sexual health, a subject I had little to no information on because of my sheltered upbringing," the singer said. "I had no idea how things worked down there, and had no idea how to make a plan for them."

Perry adds that the organization had helped learn more about her body and reproductive health. This allowed her to focus more on her dreams of using her voice and know when the timing would be right.

She adds that without the education, her life might have been different. Perry also encourages her fans to support the org and make their donations.

Mail Online reports Planned Parenthood has been receiving $530 million from the government every year. Republicans have been trying to prevent providing funds for decades, to no avail.

But with the win of Trump and the party now set to control the House and Senate as well following the results of the election, the organization might face increased pressure.

Planned Parenthood has also been under constant fire from pro-life supporters due to the organization being the biggest provider in the U.S. But without the organization's education and contraceptives, the country's need for abortion would be greater.

Perry even pointed out that sometimes the services that Planned Parenthood offer may be the only support low-income families see. "I know what its like to need help."
