Kate Middleton surprised the whole world when she married Prince William in 2011. The entire planet gathered around their TV screens to witness their royal marriage and everybody loved the fairy tale whimsy that the couple has shared to their fans and supporters.

In July 2012, the Duchess of Cambridge grabbed the headlines again as he gave birth to their first born son, George. Once again, all eyes have turned to the royal family and everybody is excited about the changes that the baby will bring to Kate’s life.

In celebration of her new milestone, here are some interesting facts you might want to know about Kate:

• There are rumors that as a student at Marlborough College, Kate kept a poster of Prince William in her bedroom. She later denied the rumor and told the media that the person in the poster was “that Levis guy”
• After she’s officially declared as the Duchess of Cambridge, a pub in Windsor renamed the establishment after her title.
• Kate’s hobby is photography and she often took pictures of her family and their business.
• In the mid-1980s, Kate and her family lived in Amman, Jordan.
• As an undergraduate, she was a member of the university’s hockey team.
• William first noticed Kate in a university fashion show where she was wearing a see-through dress. The dress was auctioned for £78,000 in 2012.
• The British royalties has a wedding tradition of wearing something blue during the ceremony. Kate followed the tradition by having a blue ribbon appliquéd into the inside of her dress.
• She is allergic to horses.
• She is a volunteer for the Scout Association and has participated in many of their events
• If she is in London, Kate usually avails of the city’s bike hire service.
