"Shenmue" is definitely a title that will take you to a stroll down memory lane. The game was a big hit when it was released in 1999 for Dream Cast with its amazing open-world gameplay. However, the story is yet to be finished, hence "Shenmue 3" is being developed as we speak.

The producers of this epically nostalgic role-playing game have confirmed that they will release the game by the end of 2017 as announced during the E3 2015 event. Many fans have been wondering if the third installment of "Shenmue" will ever grace their console again and now the wish has been fulfilled.

Given that the "Shenmue" RPG series is quite an old game with a small yet loyal fan base, some may be unfamiliar with the epic open-world game. "Shenmue" was launched in 1999 for Dreamcast and it tells the story of Ryo Hazuki. Our hero is pursuing his quest for revenge in the name of his father's murder.

The plot seems simple enough, however, the open-world gameplay is simply amazing. According to GamesRadar, "Shenmue" was the one of the first ever open-world games, featuring a persistent universe. The game was so detailed that drawers opened and the stores in the town were only open during business hours. It was definitely a prodigy during its time.

"Shenmue 2" was released in 2001, and it follows Ryo has he travels to Hong Kong, still going at it with his quest for revenge. Unlike the original "Shenmue" game, the sequel was released exclusively for Xbox in North America.

These games have made a huge impact on fans and must have inspired open-world RPGs that followed. This led to the reasonable decision of the developers to create a third game.

Although the producers announced a December 2017 release date, since it is a Kickstarter campaign, delays are likely to show their ugly heads. The producers initially started a campaign seeking a mere $2 million. But a month later, they were able to receive a whopping $6,333,295.

The news is definitely jaw-dropping but it may not be enough to make the game a total open-world experience. According to a report from MobileNApps, Yu Suzaki stated that they need $10 million to achieve greatness in the open-world context.

Although developers are maintaining a solid stance with their initially announced release date, fans are expecting it to be delayed. Stay tuned to Jobs & Hire for more updates on "Shenmue 3."
