Android Nougat 7.1 Now Available on Selected Nexus and Pixel Devices! Samsung S7 Expected to Have it Before 2016 Ends

The new update of Google's mobile operating system, Android Nougat 7.1 is already available. It is the newest operating system for Android users and is the biggest refreshment for popular phones and tablets like the Nexus and Pixel series. The update is completely free for most phones but its availability will depend on the type of device you have.
According to Techradar, Nexus 6P, Nexus 5X, Nexus 6, Nexus 9, Google Pixel, the latest update for these device is already available. Users can now enjoy its newest features. But for those who have Nexus 5 will miss the update of Android Nougat 7.1. Meanwhile, Other manufacturers such as Samsung, LG, and HTC develops their own version of the software but it will take months to release it.
Some features of Android Nougat 7.1 include:
- App shortcuts API
- Circular app icons support
- Enhanced live wallpaper metadata
- Image keyboard support
- Storage manager intent
The app shortcut API was already launched in the Nougat beta before. It is the Android version of the 3D Touch of iOS 9 - jump to a specific icon. Rounded icons for Circular app icons will ultimately match another launcher as well as Pixel. On the other hand, the Image Keyboard is also unique because it can send animated GIF, customize stickers and emoji. In addition, there is another icon for the power button that was added. You can now choose whether you power cycle the phone or switch it off.
Many Android users are still waiting for the release of Android Nougat 7.1 on their devices. Last November 9, Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge were givenaccess to Android Nougat beta, while that Galaxy Beta Program application needs to be downloaded to sign up for the Samsung account. HTC 10 device reportedly announced that the 7.1 beta update will be available for the device very soon. The 7.1 beta also runs on Nexus devices, Google Pixel, and Google Pixel XL.
According to Neurogadget, if the particular device was not released by Google, then it will take a little bit longer for it to avail of the new operating system. But for popular devices such as Samsung S7 and S7 Edge, there is a chance that Operating System may be released before the end of 2016.
