"Warcraft 4" is something no one thought would come along in very long time. Blizzard released the latest version of the series, "Warcraft III" in 2002 and that is more than a decade ago. Now the company's CEO is hinting on "Warcraft 4" while teasing about the smartphone's gaming potential.
Blizzard Entertainment definitely has a lot on their plate now, despite the fact that "Warcraft III" has not been updated since 2003 when "The Frozen Throne" expansion pack launched. The company is very focused on developing "StarCraft II" and with just cause. As for the company's MOBA and Real-time strategy genre, "Heroes of The Storm" takes the cake.
The company lead by Morhaime is currently dominating the genres of MMO, Digital Card , and the team-based first-person shooter games. One of the latest games the said company released is "Overwatch" and needless to say, it is doing a splendid job in the gaming industry. While "Heartstone" has inspired many other digital card games like "Plants Vs. Zombies: Heroes" and more.
So is there room for "Warcraft 4?" According to the December issue of the Game Informer Magazine, Mike Morhaime, the CEO at Blizzard Entertainment apparently implied that "Warcraft 4" is possible. He told the magazine that he appreciates the passion and hype surrounding the rumored fourth installment of the "Warcraft" franchise, and in turn, the game may just see the light of day in the future. However, Morhaime also stated that "Warcraft 4" is not the current focus of their company.
Moreover, according to Gamespot, Blizzard Entertainment has also expressed their interest in smartphones as a gaming platform. They find that it holds huge opportunity and thus, potential. With Smartphone makers fighting tooth and nail to bring out the best of the best in terms of mobile specifications and features, the time will come when those devices can cater amazing games as well.
Will Blizzard Entertainment be the first to dominate the mobile gaming genre in the near future? Will "Warcraft 4" be their opening title? Stay tuned to Jobs & Hire for more updates.
