Rumors are piling up on Naughty Dog's "The Last Of Us 2" and the developers are consistently keeping quiet about the game's development. After being set aside by ND to focus on "Uncharted 4", will the much-awaited sequel ever get a release date?
Everything that is circulating online about the sequel to "The Last Of Us" has never tasted even the slightest confirmation from developers Naughty Dog as reported by Game N Guide. However, the rumors that back up the game's existence and possible development are definitely strong. Especially since Naughty Dog themselves slipped a few times with regard to "The Last Of Us 2"
Yes, you heard it right. Naughty Dog almost let the cat out of the bag, and that cat serves as the light of hope that fans cling to as they vigorously wait for "The Last Of Us 2." In addition to this, many of those who have worked with Naughty Dog on other projects have also dropped strong hints that suggest that the game exists.
First off, the lead character artist that worked with Naughty Dog for "Uncharted 4" and "The Last Of Us" has some interesting things on his LinkedIn profile. It says that the artist has been working with Naughty Dog from 2011 to 2014. The last project in his portfolio read '"The Last of Us 2" - 1-month prototyping head sculpts.' Does this mean that the sequel has been baking in Naughty Dog's oven since 2014?
Second is the voice actor for Nathan Drake in "Uncharted 4" Nolan North. As previously reported by Jobs & Hire, North was at the Metrocon in Tampa, Florida when he dropped a huge confirmation bomb on unsuspecting reporters. North was asked during the Q&A if he had any more projects with Naughty Dog and he replied: "For now last one I know they're doing Last of Us 2."
Finally, Naughty Dog slipped up on Twitch TV and it was rather funny. Eric Monacelli, Josh Scherr, and Eric Baldwin were live on Twitch TV when the epic accident happened. The three were discussing the games they were working on and Scherr went and stuttered "The First Last Of Us game." He did so quite a few times to retain his composure or perhaps to reflect on what he just accidentally let slip. "Did I say the First of The Last Of Us- The Last of Us." Good job there Josh.
Naughty Dog has never said that "The Last Of Us 2" is canceled, it's just that they were focusing on "Uncharted 4." Moreover, the developers also said that it takes roughly three years for them to finish a game. If "The Last Of Us 2" has already been in development since 2014, we might just see a trailer by December 2017, and hopefully a release by 2018.
As for the storyline for "The Last Of Us 2" is said to be a back story for the fourteen-year-old Ellie. The voice actress for Ellie, Ashley Johnson also said that she was a hundred percent willing to be there for "The Last Of Us 2" It is either that or there may be a whole new bunch of characters to star in the much-awaited sequel.
