Who among us "God of War" fans doesn't know Kratos? A demigod who exists as an unstoppable killing machine, with a fury more chaotic than that of scorching volcanoes and devastating winds combined. Some say that the latest instalment of the game will be a more action-packed killing spree adventure but as it turns out, it undergoes a huge turn.
"I knew I didn't want to simply reboot "God of War" franchise, starting over with a retelling of the origin story," Game director Cory Barlog said in a PlayStation blog post. " I wanted to reimagine the gameplay, give players a fresh perspective and a new tactile experience while delving deeper into the emotional journey of Kratos to explore the compelling drama that unfolds when an immortal demigod makes a decision to change."
"God of War" E3 2016 gameplay trailer released last June illustrated us those exact words. Instead of a raging Kratos with lots of blood and gore infused fight scenes, the video shows a charming modest boy in a hunting training with Kratos. This will probably surprise fans as this will be the first portrayal of Kratos as a calm and collective man.
If you're wondering what triggered this huge change in Kratos in "God of War 4", this is most probably because of his past decisions and his newfound life with his family. According to reports "God of War 3" will introduce Kratos' wife and his son.
GamenGuide suggests that the story will be taking place in a different land far from Greece as shown in the trailer. "God of War 4" will probably be set in a Norse setting like Skyrim where we can see Kratos fighting draugr and something like a tauren.
"We've actually moved away from Greece and Kratos has kind of wandered. We are parsing it as the time in which the vikings spoke of their gods walking the earth," said Barlog.
"God of War" has yet to have an official release date. However, developers are expecting it to arrive in the year 2017.
