"World War Z" is an action-thriller zombie apocalypse movie released last 2013. It is based on Max Brooks' novel. "World War Z" despite its PG-13 rating, still strikes the box office record and grossed over $590 million.
After the success of the first movie, fans demand more but readers said that "World War Z 2" will be a big challenge to the production team as the story will in an overwhelming setting. Netizens are struck with excitement when an announcement was released that "World War Z 2" will hit the theaters on June 9, 2017.
Others, however, are not convinced saying that this will not be the final premier date for "World War Z 2". One reason is that the production has yet to start as there is no director hired to lead the movie. The original director of the first movie, Marc Forster decided to pull out from his position to direct the second installment.
The prospect of the position is "The Orphanage" director J.A. Bayona. Unfortunately, he has previously accepted a project to direct "Jurassic World 2" couple of years ago and he dropped out eventually earlier this year.
After Bayona, next potential to fill the director's chair is "Fight Club" and "Gone Girl" director David Fincher. Negotiations are currently ongoing and there has been no confirmation if Fincher will be the one who will direct the upcoming "World War Z 2" featuring Brad Pitt.
Another reason for the postponement of "World War Z 2" is that several big movies such as "The Mummy" starring Tom Cruise, "Wonder Woman" with Gal Gadot, "Cars 3," and "Kingsman: The Golden Circle" will be releasing around the same time that "World War Z 2" is supposed to hit theatres.
Due to a big lineup of competitors and a lack of a director, "World War Z 2" will be far from happening. On the bright side, Fincher is not giving any sign of refusal to turning down the offer for "World War Z 2" so let's hope that all will be good.
