On the birth of Prince George, many fans of the British royals look back on how his parents met.

When Prince William's father Prince Charles and his mother Lady Diana married in the year 1981, it was obvious that the dating pool for royals was rather limited. While a young lady not belonging to the nobility could attract the affections of a royal, the future of becoming his wife was bleak because a lady married to a royal should come from a royal bloodline.

By the time their first son was of age, he upended the prudish tradition and proposed to Kate Middleton, a daughter of self-made millionaires. While not royal, Middleton, whom the young prince met in school, is not a stranger to privilege. Her parents started a party supply company providing the Middleton siblings the good life. However, many still criticized Kate's family background.

Kate who now is deemed as a fashion icon like the Princes' mother Princess Diana had to wait for William for a very long time earning her the nickname of "Waity Katie".

Kate however is no longer waiting. In fact, she is to be queen of the British throne someday. Upon giving birth to her first son -the new heir to the throne, Duchess Catherine of Cambridge and her husband Prince William, Duke of Cambridge got some undivided media attention not only in UK tabloids and celebrity-focused magazines but on national TV as well. The BBC even got criticized for covering it too much.

Prince George's first official photos will reportedly be released by the Duchess through social networking site Twitter. It is interesting though that many people the world over have reacted in a negative manner and said that Middleton should stick to royal protocol and not act like a celebrity.

Whichever the case, Kate and Wills as they are fondly called by the paparazzi seem quite content with their life at the moment.
