JYJ's Junsu Stars In Frank Wildhorn's 'Death Note' Korean Musical

Boy band JYJ member Kim Jun-su will star in Frank Wildhorn's "Death Note" musical before he goes into the South Korean compulsory military service in February. This was announced by the producer of the musical.
Better known by the stage name Junsu, the singer will join the cast as one of the two major characters of the mucical. Junsu has played the role since last year when The musical was musical was launched in a South Korean premiere show.
According to Yonhap News, the singer, better known by his stage name Junsu will sing as "L," one of the two main characters of the musical. This is his second time to play the role after 2015, the year when the licensed South Korean premiere took place.
The musical is based on a Japanese anime with a similar name which features a battle between two protagonists, "Light" a genius high school lad who discovers the Death Note and "L", the smart detective who chases him. Han Ji-sang who plays Light is an accomplished actor who has been acclaimed for the two musicals he starred in.
The upcoming musical is produced by the well known Japanese agency, Horipro and is very popular in Japan and Korea. It has already recorded made 57 sellouts shows so far. Most of the cast are stars in their own rights and are known musical actors.
As listed in a Korean Tumblr Page for "Death Note", Korean singers Park Hye-na and Kang Hong-seok play "Rem" and "Ruk" who are the death angels, while singer Lee Eun Young portrays Light's girlfriend "Amane Misa." The musical is scheduled to be shown at the Opera House of Seognam Arts Center on January 3 to January 26, 2017 in Seoul.
The music for "Death Note" was created by Frank Wildhorn in 2012 and developed into a musical starting December of 2013. In April 16, 2015, it was premiered at the Nissay Theatre in Tokyo. The Korean production followed soon after from July to August, 2015.
