After another typhoon hit the Philippine capital last week, it was followed by heavy rain ensue as a tropical storm hovered over the country. The whole of Metro Manila that includes other major cities near the capital is flooded with exemption to areas that are located in the hillsides and mountains. As a result of the flooding, the Philippine government shut down its financial markets and government agencies were closed Monday.

In addition to the temporary closure of government agencies and other offices in the metro, schools were also shut down for the day to protect students from suffering any injuries during the flooding.

Three people were reportedly killed because of the Manila flooding and three more are missing. Tropical storm Trami known as Maring in the Asian nation was seen stationary in the eastern part of Batanes province maintaining 75 kph winds. It reached up to 90 kph during the day causing heavy to intense downpour. Reports say the rainfall recorded is as much as 25 millimeters per hour

There are two recorded death tolls in the province of Cavite after a dike collapsed Monday morning while a road mishap killed another person in the province of Apayao. Two men are also reported missing after crossing a river between Mountain Province and Abra. Other reports from the local government of Mountain province confirms that a woman who was among the company of 31 tourists trapped in Mountain province cave has gone missing. Mountain province also suffered from six landslides during the torrential rains, sources say.

Other provinces affected by tropical storm Trami include Batangas, Ilocos Norte and Ilocos Sur, Laguna, and Cavite. Evacuations were done in these areas according to reporters on the ground.

A few local flights by the Philippine flag carrier and its major competitors had to cancel domestic flights due to the rains.
