Social media users could not halt their taps on sharing and raving about the newest "Star Wars"-themed movie "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story" as it dominated most conversations in Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr, and other social media websites. The highly-anticipated movie has dropped several trailers that show off main stars Felicity Jones, Diego Luna along with their band of would-be heroes that includes Donnie Yen of "Ip Man" fame. Despite the anticipation and yet-to-be-seen market performance, Disney and Lucasfilm guaranteed it would not have a sequel.
According to Variety, "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story" had more than 148,000 conversations citing date from ComScore's PreAct Service, a media-measurement company. December silver screen contender Pixar's "Cars 3" comes second with 55,000 new conversations after the November 21 release of its own trailer showing eye level shots of racecars featuring "Cars" star Lightning McQueen racing all over the track.
Actor Riz Ahmed, playing as one of the secret rebellion squad member Bodhi Rook, said "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story" Is likely to feel like a "war movie". Ahmed praised Gareth Edwards -- of "Monsters" and "Godzilla" fame -- and producer Kathy Kennedy for bringing "a cool balance between old and new."
According to Forbes, the new Star Wars movie could outdo the 2015 official Star Wars storyline movie "The Force Awakens." Forbes Contributor Dani Di Placido writes that "Rogue One" will bring back the "overwhelming sense of scale" that made the original films wonderful. He said "Rogue One's" mercenaries do not have lightsabers -- making the struggle "real" in a movie sense.
While the newest trailers feature no Darth Vader, speculations about his role in the movie would reveal his "darker side". Producer Kathy Kennedy said Darth Vader will be in the movie in "a key, strategic moment." However, "Rogue One" will not receive a sequel. Citing an interview of Empire Magazine, producer and Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy will not make "Rogue Two".
