The 42-year old, whose real name is Earl Simmons was sitting in the passenger seat when police saw a bag of marijuana on the armrest of the rapper. They were initially pulled over because of the Ford F350's driver making a wrong lane change. It's not only the bag of weed that they allegedly saw but the police immediately recognized rapper DMX as having an outstanding court appearance for his previous DUI charges thus, an active warrant for his arrest was in order. He was booked in Greer jail but was released on bail hours after.

One of the police on the scene saw "a bag of green plant material I knew to be marijuana" to which rapper DMX denies the allegations. "At this point, Mr. Simmons became very aggressive with his words and was making multiple idle threats," says the police report and continues: "The smell of alcohol coming from his person became very strong." One of the rapper's female friends who was in the car at the time recorded the commotion, with X being heard saying "This ain't no normal traffic stop. 18 cops, 5 cars, get the *** outta here man."

DMX's reps challenged the police report with a written statement saying, "Although officers pulled them over for a minor traffic violation, DMX was asked to step outside so they can search the vehicle," Domenick Nati said. "Officers then claimed that they found bags of marijuana in the floorboard and arrested X. No drugs were found on DMX or the other passengers and the alleged bags of marijuana were never shown to DMX or the other passengers."

Apart from his DUI and now marijuana allegations, he was also previously arrested for driving without a license this year. Other than that, his list includes animal cruelty, probation violation, on counts of violence and even went on "jail lockdown", only eating "bread and water" after failing "jailhouse interactions".

DMX the rapper recently filed for bankruptcy, saying he needed to 'reorganize his finances'.
