The ramen burger easily took the food spotlight from the cronuts since it made its debut in the Williamsburg Smorgasbord last Saturday.

Its creator, 35-year old Keizo Shimamoto has already trademarked his creation, after realizing just how big it's gotten even before the ramen burger made its way to the food fest. He relates that he only has 150 of it brought to Williamsburg, only to see over 200 people already lined up for it.

"I have no idea how this happened," he shares and continues, "It's crazy." Before his ramen breakthrough, Keizo was a ramen blogger travelling all over the US and in Japan, sampling all kinds of ramen he can get his chopsticks on and blogging about it in his site GoRamen.com. He was a computer programmer back in 2009 and quit his job to devote himself fully to ramen. It was one of his travels in Japan which led him to see customers eating a ramen sandwich, thus allowing him to experiment on creating his very own ramen burger.

Shimamoto says, "I experimented with different recipes to get the perfect bun. People think it's crispy because they see it on the grill, but when you bite into it you notice that the noodles are still quite soft." But it doesn't break apart. Why? "That's a secret,"

In a desperate attempt to have a taste of the latest food craze of the millisecond, one man even tried to bribe his way with two cronuts but that was to no avail.

The Ramen Burger is composed of an all-beef patty sandwiched between two authentic ramen noodles, garnished with "secret" shoyu sauce with scallions and arugula. Already, imitations of it are popping the world over, including a version of it in the Philippines.

Keizo has big plans for his ramen creation. He's looking at every Saturday in the flea market which runs until November 14, introducing it to L.A and hopefully a ramen burger restaurant.
