Technology has been part of our life everyday; it is considered to be helpful because everything's seems to be easy. But then, there is also part of technology which can cause trouble and can ruin a person's life. Now, as 2016 is coming to its end, let us all look back the impact of technology this year.
Mashable shares the 16 biggest happenings in technology this 2016. These are:
1. Headphone jack
Headphone jack has been part of Apple's iPhone, but this 2016, it seems like it was not needed anymore. Apple launched iPhone 7 without headphone jack, which is quite surprising for Apple users.
2. Fake News Infects Facebook
Some people rely so much on Facebook and sometimes believe about false or "hoax" news from this social media. This will infect their mind and believe about the thing that they read. Like the spreading of news during and after the US Election; this is somehow alarming, though, the CEO of Facebook - Mark Zuckerberg - says that it is not a problem.
3. Explosive Samsung Galaxy Note 7
This year is probably one of the biggest challenge Samsung has ever encountered. The launching of Galaxy Note 7 is almost close to success - until explosion issues surface. Many users were alarmed because of this, that is why Samsung Company decided to stop the distribution on every country, as well as to stop the production completely. As of now, Samsung continues to investigate about the explosive device. The result is expected to be revealed before the end of 2016, previous report from Jobs & Hire.
4. Self-Driving Cars Rev their Engines
Developing of autonomous cars, which is completely self-driving as pledge by Tesla. One of the ride-sharing company - Uber - is the first one who put a car like this that do not need a driver in the road of Pittsburgh.
5. Snapchat Sets the Bar for Digital Cool
Snapchat develops a new cool wearable with spectacles. Aside from this, there is also a cool tool in which the photos can be save on "Memories." Snapchat also offers different kind of filters and face enhancers that the user seems to enjoy. It also has a story; a photo or video that will only appear in the span of 24 hours. Later on, Instagram mimics this feature.
6. Hacking Gets Even Worse
Hacking some sites, devices, and other personal social media account became relevant this 2016. This is very alarming because those personal information that has been stored on a certain account might not be secured at all.
7. Facebook Live
Facebook made an another feature which you can make a video and your friends and viewers can watch it in real time happening. This is also good because some news platform use this to cover the live news and can immediately share it on Facebook.
8. Hyperloop One Melts Down
One of the downside of Hyperloop One, is when Brogan BamBrogan - co-founder and CTO - claims that the brother of Shervin Pishevar (founder and the CEO) put a noose on the office chair. Though, it was now settled, the damage has already done.
9. Apple vs. FBI
FBI sued Apple company to hack a former terrorist's iPhone; but Apple refused to do so. Eventually, the FBI gave up; they find another way on how to do it.
10. No One Wants to Buy Twitter
Twitter is one of the famous social media site in which you can instantly what are the trends or hot topics within the day. However, it seems like no one wants it at all. Reportedly, to be able to cut the cost, the company needs to lay-off some employees; to become profitable.
11. Facebook Becomes a Global Power
Facebook is not only a social media now, it also made a big impact nowadays. It offers a lot of job opportunities. Another thing is, every year, the users become more and more. It's massaging application alone; Messenger, reportedly have 1 billion users.
12. #RIPVine
This 2012 application is no longer available, after it announced that the site officially shut down last October. This application captures creative teens that can possibly be a celebrity into overnight.
13. VR is Everywhere and Nowhere
This year is also the year of VR; reportedly to be in the lead right now. This is one of the successful happening in today's technology. However, it is still depend on the developer on how the consumer will love it. HTC Vive, Sony's PlayStation VR, and Facebook's Oculus Rift was all debuted this year.
14. Uber's Quiet Domination
The company is more than ride-sharing; after it turned the driverless car into reality in the road of Pittsburgh.
15. The Year in Acquisitions
A lot of companies become bigger now, such as Google and Facebook. And so, it is quite challenging to compete with these big companies. In able to know the if the future company will be successful, a big step and taking risks is needed.
16. Theranos Comes Tumbling Down
The company's so called Edison machine (will perform a test just by dropping a pinch of blood to run the test) which was thought to do good, turns out to be not doing good at all.
These are the list that reportedly make a big impact in today's technology. Everything will still continue because as time goes by, technology becomes better, or it will be worse. It just depends on how people handled it.
